Detroit in Pieces [Photos]

Detroit is home. It always has been and it always will be...Detroiters don't complain when going through hell, even when we probably should. We just keep working, even when unemployed- we're beyond optimism...there's no real difference between feast or famine- it's all just life.

Whether merging onto the I-96 expressway, heading out on the Southfield Fwy to the now defunct Northland Mall or grabbing Yemenese food in Hamtramack, the city has always sat at the rough tension of potential and self-destruction. In a way, growing up in Detroit is a lot like being human- you're stuck between what you could be and who you generally are.

I go home a lot these days, taking those insane bus rides from New York City's Port Authority bus station. This is what I saw via my little camera phone on a couple of my camera phone.
