In this week's #mondaymixup, we get serenated by a recent track by WSPJ, also known as Paul Jackson. He's been developing his sound and rhythm. Below he gives us a little insight into the thought process and emotions that went into "ah-Lov'her."

_______

"I mean

i made it cuz i make music

but

it's jazz inspired

inspired by d'angelo

and those with a keen ear will hear that

A Mix of Vibes

This track is relatively smooth and quiet even though it’s still gritty and funky. When you listen to jazz, to skilled keyboardists and percussionists who are trying to say something, eventually you are surrounded by that conversation and you have to have something to say.

While quiet, the lows punch through. A swingy jazz joint with enough bump to incite excitement and to induce movement, this for me is a minimal effort in the realm of techno music.

Sonic concepts of ‘non-male’ pleasure at the vocal fore overlay a psychedelic and funky background in a contrast. A smooth, undefined, type of swirly sound mediates the extremes and expresses speaks up for the kind of intimate and simple understanding that, through tension and frictions, makes it all move.
