East Harlem braces for New Interactive Art Exhibit Opening

This Wednesday, March 23rd, at El Barrio's Art Space PS109, a community space in East Harlem, New York's local residents and visitors will be met with a potpourri of sites, sounds, movements, smells and tastes via "Escape through the Looking Glass."

The exhibit aims to disturb the sensibilities of spectators in a way which may transform them into inspired participants during and after their interactions.

Beautiful and Interactive Chaos

Escape through the Looking Glass [rsvp] is the most recent project of Jasmine R. Castillo and the Escape Artists Collective, which to date has hosted 4 other large scale New York City exhibits.

A native-New York City film producer, Castillo has assembled hosts of painters, musicians, dancers, graffiti artists and even, chefs to push on and tug at the sensibilities and imaginations of exhibit attendees.

An Exhibit which is Intrinsically Different

Embarking in a multi-disciplinary foray of artistic and human expression, Jasmine Castillo and her partners at Escape Artists have assembled talent with a variety of experiences and channels.

This diversity extends to the very location of the show in East Harlem (aka"El Barrio") allowing persons from outside Manhattan's artistic beltways to enjoy an independent and artistic display in their own backyard.

Moreover, the exhibit will feature artists hailing from communities like and dislike their own.

Escape through the Looking Glass includes an Array of Talent and Perspectives

From the dance and movements of VORA P.A.M. to the illustrations of Teeny Love, the exhibit will examine various aspects and frontiers of humanity in ways which are ancient and modern. familiar and foreign, conventional and exotic.

One will, in a way, encounter 50 shades of reality through the opening and closing night shows of this week-long exhibit.

Where and When in El Barrio

Escape through the Looking Glass will open on Wednesday March 23rd with a 5-9pm opening ceremony. The exhibit will last for one week and close with a 5-9pm closing ceremony.

You can RSVP on the Art Collective's website and give a suggested donation of $10 to cover the production costs for the exhibit and to financially bolster the work of Dare2B, an organization which provides clothing, supplies and human support systems for homeless New York City children.
