Play, "Tales from the Trundle," explores the journey from Abuse to Liberty

This Saturday (Oct. 1st) at 4 pm in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, show attendees of Tales from the Trundle will be treated to the most recent work of playwright and performer, Francesca Van Horne. This one woman show will allow the viewer into the complex journey out of an abyss and into liberty.
"The play is really about survival, specifically in terms of a young mother trying to raise a family in the confines of a physically and verbally abusive relationship with a drug-addicted husband," states James Phillip Gates, director of Saturday evening's production.
He continues. "[The protagonist] survives through the incredible support of friends, and a belief in personal renewal afforded by certain spiritual practices. I guess the simplest question on modern life presented by the play is 'how do we survive the certain trials and low-spots ahead?'"

This original one-woman drama, as part of the 7th annual United Solo Festival, tells the story of a mother’s survival from abuse & addiction, battling the New York court system and divorce, into healing. Through tears, laughter, friendship, romance and sex, we are led on a humorous journey, via Paris and Los Angeles, to the ultimate destination of self-transformation and self-love.

In the United States, domestic abuse unfortunately is still an impediment in the lives of too many.
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, "nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the US. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. ... Women between the ages of 18-24 are most commonly abused by an intimate partner."
"As we trudge through life, we all experience emotional and mental hardship in varying degrees- But do we all have a network to carry and support us, either through personal, community or spiritual relationships?" ponders Gates.
