This is a big week for Radric "Gucci Mane" Davis after an even bigger year, as this week he drops a new album. In a recent interview with the 105.1 Breakfast Club morning show, Gucci discussed a number of lifestyle changes, which include an embrace of social theorist of Malcolm Gladwell, a new found love for fashion, and his strong ear for new talent and trends.

Here were some of the cool quotes from Gucci

Prison was a huge Wake Up Call

"I dun went to prison...dat was the last straw...when I do go, they sent me to this maximum security prison...dat ain't the life you wanna live. Just seein' dat wit my own eyes made me wanna make some changes...when I was facin' dem 35 years and then they said okay, we gon' gi you 3 years...that was the epiphany right there, when the judge gave me something i could manage."

Gucci Loves Malcolm Gladwell's Social Theory and Writings

"...He's one of my favorite writers...even in da Tippin' Point, I feel like he wrote dat bout me- I feel like I'm dat Maverick, I'm dat connecta....so many people dun came up from under me, I feel like I got so much influence."

Gucci has discovered a lot of Artist...like a Lot

"It comes from just not bein' no hater. Everybody know what's hot...I always felt dat a lot of artists don't want help nobody because dey don't want nobody being bigga dan dem...me I've never had dat problem...I've always be able to work with anyone who's talent...who sounds good to me...I like workin' with people, I like collaboratin'"

Gucci enjoys the Process of Making Mixtapes over Albums

When I get an album, I get stiff- I get rigid... When I'm making a mixtape, i'm just free spirit...i'm just recordin' and recordin. With an album, i can be in a studio wit people dat's real talented but we ain't got no chemistry...you only end up with two songs- one could be a hit, one could be a miss...when me and [Zaytoven] been in the studio for 3 months and we dun made 50 songs, 3 of dese songs gon' be somethin.

His Fiancé flipped a Ton of Cash for Gucci While in Prison

"I had to give da money to somebody...I trusted her...She's just a beautiful person inside and out...She understand'me...I got so much respect for her."

It's great to see the evolution and growth of anyone. Gucci especially is good to watch. Given his humble beginnings in poverty and crime, and a chaotic personal life as a rapper, Davis' life reminds us that people can change and grow.

Moreover, we in the startup and creative spaces can learn from his work ethic, capitalization of social networks and openness to new ideas. Even his perspective to making music and finding talks sounds like we could even have an angel investor in the making
